International Travel & Tourism Industry
 
 
Tourism is an increasingly important sector of the world economy and a major component of trade.. It supports millions of jobs and generates huge investment directly in tourism businesses as well as in the services and infrastructure, which is so directly linked to people's insatiable desire to travel for business and leisure.
 
In 2005, tourism industry has approximately generated US$6,201.49 billion of economic activity as per WTTC estimates. Encompassing all components of Travel & Tourism consumption, investment, government spending and exports have expected to grow by 5.4% (real terms) and the ten-year annualized growth (2006-2015) forecast is 4.6% per annum illustrating the outlook for strong long-term growth.
 
The global Travel & Tourism industry has produced about 2.1 million new jobs in 2005 over it’s 2004 level to total 74.2 million jobs or 2.8% of total world employment. The broader perspective of the Travel & Tourism economy (direct and indirect) has created than 6.5 million new jobs for the world economy for a total of 221.6 million jobs dependent on Travel & Tourism or 8.3% of total employment.
 
India is the 2nd fastest growing travel and tourism economy in the world and by 2014, Indian Travel and Tourism Economy is expected to generate US$ 90 Billlion of Total demand and nearly 28 billion jobs.
